Who are FITCAP CIC?
FITCAP (Fitness in the Community & Active Play) are a Non-profit Community Interest Company who work in the local community for the community.
Local People are involved in our project and it plans to not only provide activities to encourage a healthy lifestyle and get Children & Young People off the streets but to provide training and volunteering opportunities. The workers who deliver our project are from the local community.
Some of the opportunities we deliver include:
- sports and leisure
- holiday activity schemes
- afterschool and lunchtime activities
- outreach work
- cookery
- volunteering
- intergeneration work
- training
The workers from the community also meet regularly to plan/evaluate delivery based on their interactions with local people at their sessions.
What is a CIC Company?
Community Interest Companies (CICS) are limited companies, with special additional features, created for the use of people who want to conduct a business or other activity for community benefit, and not purely for private advantage.
This is achieved by a "community interest test" and "asset lock", which ensure that the CIC is established for community purposes and the assets and profits are dedicated to these purposes. Registration of a company as a CIC has to be approved by the Regulator who also has a continuing monitoring and enforcement role.
